Teacher’s correction of the week
Stop saying very goodsuperb! excellent!
In IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL and Cambridge exams, examiners reward lexical resource — the range and precision of your vocabulary. That is why this lesson gives you two alternatives for every “very + adjective”: knowing a synonym pair proves range, and it means you always have a second option when the first one slips your mind under pressure. Tap each card to reveal both upgrades with example sentences, then follow the PrepMyEnglish™ Study Plan below: 6 pairs per session, 9 sessions, 108 words mastered.
The full word bank — 54 adjectives, 108 upgrades
The PrepMyEnglish™ Study Plan
One set per study session — 6 adjectives, 12 new words, 12 sentences. Read the set, say each sentence aloud twice, then write your own sentence for each new word. Complete one set every day (9 days) or two per week (one month before your exam). Words you have used are words you own.
How to make these words stick before exam day
Recycle, don’t just review. Learning words in pairs is an examiner’s favourite trick: in your writing task, use one alternative in the introduction and the other in the conclusion — instant proof of lexical range. Keep a “very list” in your notebook: every time you catch yourself writing very, cross it out in red and upgrade it. This single habit is the fastest way for PrepMyEnglish™ students to raise their vocabulary score. See you in the next Vocabulary Lab lesson!
