When to add ‘of’ — General statements vs Specific groups — Complete Guide
all / all of · most / most of
no / none of etc.
Quand ajouter ‘of’ — Généralisations vs Groupes spécifiques — Guide complet

Master the key rule: use all/some/most/none directly before a noun for general statements, but add of before the/my/this/these and always before pronouns it/us/you/them.

Maîtrisez la règle clé : utilisez all/some/most/none directement avant un nom pour les généralisations, mais ajoutez of avant the/my/this/these et toujours avant les pronoms it/us/you/them.

The words all, some, any, most, much, many, (a) little, (a) few, no, none, half can all be used with or without of — but the choice follows a clear rule. Use them without ‘of’ for general statements (All cars have wheels). Use them with ‘of’ when followed by a specific determiner like the / my / this / these (All of these cars…). Before pronouns (it, us, you, them), ‘of’ is always required.

Les mots all, some, any, most, much, many, (a) little, (a) few, no, none, half peuvent tous s’utiliser avec ou sans of — mais le choix suit une règle claire. Utilisez-les sans ‘of’ pour des généralisations. Utilisez-les avec ‘of’ devant un déterminant spécifique comme the / my / this / these. Devant les pronoms (it, us, you, them), ‘of’ est toujours obligatoire.

B

With ‘of’ — Specific Groups (the / my / this / these / those…)
